Miss Sheehan Sr like I said our dad is asking for later if she is here she will be presenting a little bit of our data for the school year so I don't think this thing Cayenne is here so I can report so I can report for her so good afternoon everybody my name is Karina and we're going to start off with a little by little about our school we are sharing with you and this lidar beginning of the year scores and middle of the Year scores for math this particular grasses for math so we wanted to share that you know though it may not be a big Improvement we are we did show improvement from the store since beginning of the year and you can tell that by surprise a we're looking at the red area 42% of students below grade level compared to I believe this 49% at the beginning of the year so I said not a big job so yeah Green area so the students wore out grade or a boy grade level that number group we want that number to grow we want the red one to go down on the green one to go up and we can see that more students are now at grade level then at the beginning of the year and we can see the same next time we have the same with the this is the the reading i-Ready scores and we can also see that that there is there has been improvement in our in our scores from the beginning of the year to the end now this test is taken at the beginning of the year on our students to get in September and then they just finished taking it take in the middle of the Year assessment so we are able to have these three data points begin middle and they will take one at the end of the year as well so I it is very very important that your children attend class during our testing. So that we can really see they're they're gross and we can see the progress that they're making and I'm so yes so this is one of the schools that the district has for all schools in the whole district for students to to take on this test is in reading and math and it is 44 second grade I believe all the way to 12th grade Miss Hernandez Lopez or someone if you confirm that's my thinking Kendra to Les Deux dibels correct yes that is correct and my apologies I I skipped get on the bus like that so I'm going to go back to her he left. Is this where we left off yes I am and in moving forward I asked if they had to miss Bunga in but this is just information about are welcome center so parents these are the different locations where you can come and receive support and so these are again the Vermont the Washington in the Sherman Oaks I also able to call from 7:30 to 4:30 to receive support from our wonderful office staff parents also if you're having difficulties with their child's device is important that you reach out we have at the district different hubs throughout the district that can go ahead and replace that have for you you need to make sure that you call to make appointment or you can go ahead and go into the lake so you can request that support so let me introduce a little bit about myself I retired two years ago after 31 years of service to the families and the students of LAUSD I used to be a principal of an elementary school I was also a couch a tornado just like new and of course I was a teacher for many years so I've had the pleasure of working with families throughout the district and I'm very happy to be here today next some reviewing attendance matter with your family because I want to get the point across that it's extremely important that your child not only attend Zoom but also complete assignment attendance is submitted every two weeks and if we look at this data we noticed that we have 746 students and roll mtk all the way to 12th grade and out of those 746 students 685 students are at The Chronic attendance band that means that they have been an absent they haven't received credit their assignments because they are incomplete it's extremely important that parents remember just showing up and swim class is not enough the students also need to complete the assignment in a Spanish when you enroll your child in the Virtual Academy you had to sign either the elementary Master agreement is your child's in elementary or the secondary master degree next we have students in grades 10 11 and 12 who are already working towards graduation we need to make sure that parents understand that if students do not have the credits that they need to graduate they will have to continue another year at school after their 12th grade one of the pillars we have in our district is academic excellence any order to ensure that all students receive academic Excellence we try to eliminate the opportunity gaps I love you know that sounds do the two external reasons may not be able to complete their assignments we at the district offer Credit Recovery we also provide intervention in students can go ahead and see homework assignment help at tutor.com this has been about this service has been a very at the district for several years now please take advantage it's available all the days of the week Monday through Sunday so if your child is stuck on a problem please go ahead enjoying tutor.com from your child's device and get sick that help that's needed in order for your child to be a tri-level and complete assignments and get credit for attending school we want to make sure that we have you engaged just woke up so the district has a virtual educational opportunities for parents as well just last week there was one about unlocking beating success with structure structural literacy building the foundation and then today at 1 p.m. we're here now but they will be another series workshops is scholarships free money for those of you who have students who will be graduating and attending college or university never are you present yes hello good afternoon everyone my name is Miss dinner though I am the Middle School College and Career coach and intervention coordinator thank you for being here today so my rule dinner Academy is to provide intervention to our students last semester in the fall we did focus on Reading Writing basically in the English language arts relate and so this semester with you wonderful on math we are going to be using i-Ready which is why it is important that all our students I'm complete the I ready so we can have that data and see how close to it it's our a benchmark our goal is to get them to Benchmark so we will be intervention most likely mid-april after all the cast testing is done every month we do like to also acknowledge our students for their hard work in in character building so every month we do like to celebrate them we will be commencing those celebrations once again in February we just had our fall Awards assembly but we will continue with our Phoenix leaders of the month starting in February and Leslie of I am the I will be presenting a career. sometime in March or we will be bringing the speakers in the leadership and public service Brown we wants them to inspire students to be great leaders in our community and we will also have a week of college I cut like a college fairs so students can get to know some colleges around our area even throughout the country because there are many different colleges we want students to know about and also discussed perhaps other way that's can get involved so we will be doing things like virtual campus tours so they can explore different Majors thank you I'm here yes yeah I apologize I have some background noise or some construction happening if you hear that I apologized I am missing work is I am the art your teacher I am currently working with elementary students right now for the month of January and February we are focusing on black history artists we are going to focus a little bit on Lunar New Year and on some Valentine's Day art so not just doing art but learning the history behind these artists on studying their art and also I'm learning about the meaning of the Lunar New Year as well as Valentine's Day represent in something that I just put on this some of those supplies that are students are needing so if you have an elementary student definitely lots of paper lots of markers crayons paint scissors and glue or going to be very helpful as we I do this work together thank you good afternoon everybody we are so grateful that you are here today joining us and we applaud you for your involvement as a parent and being there showing up for your child so thank you very much I am an elementary teacher and I would love to inform you about our gate selection process there are different categories and each category is unique the first category is intellectual ability category has nothing to do with high achievement there may be students that are high Achievers that do very well get excellent grades and there may be a stew that are are considered gifted even though they're not high Achievers intellectual ability has to do with their thought process how day thank you their reasoning ability their deducting skills and their problem-solving skills so if your child if you noticed that you were child thinks logically in it if he if he or she is able to think outside the box and and solve problems even though they're not doing their work there still might be gifted student the next student is high achievement and achievement is very easy to recognize because their students who have 4.0 students who exceed standards exceeded standards in English and math the next is specific academic ability and that's looking at students who Excel in a different subject matter and again are above grade level standards and have a 4.0 the next category which I personally law is creative ability and a creative ability is students who think outside the box students who are willing to take risks students who challenged the status quo what does that mean Bay Pointe au Health practices and power relations can be improved they're not afraid to speak up and they're imaginative their non-conformist they don't come farm with something that doesn't work I think point it out the referral I'm sorry I forgot to say that the referral for the intellectual ability is April 5th and a referral for the creative ability is May 17th so they have to be referred by May 17th then leadership ability is Gwen students are very passionate and they see problems or in their Community or problems in society problems in the world and they want to do something about it and their paw turn it about it they would like to be of service Antico major issues and make a difference in their community and in the world on the deadline for that is for referral is May 17th then the next category is Visual Arts which that one is self explicable it's artist right painters people who do sculptures and you know if you go to a museum sometimes you look at Art and you were like how did this get here so don't rule out if you have a child was very creative and it's drawing it even if you don't think it might be really museum-quality you never know it might be and then the next category is performing parts of a Leti and whoever is helping me out by pointing it out thank you so very much so that Performing Arts ability is oh wait sorry I forgot the visual arts the deadline for that is April so the referral has to be made by April 17th and then the last one is at Performing Arts ability and of course it's our actors our fingers our dancers so you have a child who love singing love dancing lost I think you should talk to his teachers and the deadline for that is April 17th golfer that is April 17th and if we could please move to the next slide so here in the next slide every month there's a gay parent hour where you can go and ask questions get more information on the next one is February 7th February 7th and it's from 5:30 to 6:30 Miss Hernandez is there a way that they can access this some links thank you thank you so much Miss Renee so I invite everybody to visit the gate our February 7th and then there's also enough very important meeting they all set they all set test is a test given for academic achievement and intellectual ability and the deadline for this is April 5th and if you want to find out more about this debt this test there's a meeting February 15th from 5:30 to 6:30 Miss Renee is doing me the favor of posting those links in the chat and they all said ability they do not they all set test they do not test they don't have the students do not have to write they don't have to read they don't have to solve problems it's a test. That doesn't discriminate it's more about your intellectual ability which I discussed earlier which is thinking logically your reasoning ability your deducting skills and your problem solving skills and that's it for today thank you for listening thank you and we have our wonderful counselor staff hello hi I'm mrs. abrahamyan and I am the counselor for kindergarten through all the way to eighth grade I'm in charge of your students classes grades I am here go to support with with anything that students need if they need support with emotional need many of you to contact me if I don't have the answer I was try to find it we have such an amazing support team everybody's here and we reach out to each other and make sure that we support the student in the family all the time I just want to share this new things and new information that we have for this semester I I have the flyer posted it's a little it's small so it's hard to see what we have for our middle school students 67 and 8th graders is it is through l.a. team and it's cold air he works he's a well last year they kind of stated the tutoring program but it's not a tutoring program it is a mentoring program which is very very important for a middle school student my cousin this Pro they make new friends and did they have mentors that are signed to each grade level so they try to find someone who connects with the student and I think especially in our virtual setting mentoring is so important because it's this age 67 8th grade middle school students a lot of times and they don't talk to their parents and teachers what they do their thinking and feeling it it's now to have that mental who they can go to and they do have research saying that they do the students who have been with the mentoring program do better academically and they meet after school one hour Tuesday through Friday students and families pick the day that it's from 4:15 to 6:15 and once a week they needs and they have they make friends fun activities curriculum they they provide all the curriculum supplies for them they have virtual field trips and it is really nice the last year they had you CLA they have Woodbury University they have those virtual trips and they do concentrate on Career exploration where they would they would have someone who comes from airspace career and talked to the students for enrichment they do have they do field trips to museums and Galleries and they did go to the zoo last year so it is pretty it's a pretty neat program in its students adjoining 6th grade they kind of just help students to go from 6th to 7th to 8th grade and it's a great place to but you feel comfortable and just be themselves so if you are interested I can put my email account possibly because it says your email and just just reach out to me and let me know I will definitely go to classrooms the teachers know about it so they are recommending some of them but I will visit classrooms it says it's due on the 31st but sometimes they have another week so I will visit the classrooms are recruit students who are interested so let me know if you have any questions I'm here to support thank you everybody have a great day and we also have some information from our other councillors we have the credit recovery options available for students and we will have the spring as well as summer school opportunity in July so please make sure that you reach out to your counselors for the for more information on these courses and we also have a FAFSA Workshop down workshop coming up Thursday February 4th I from 11:30 a.m. there's two sessions and there's also one in the evening at 5:30 so we have the information they're so this is an important opportunity parents to learn more about college grants and scholarships and alone so please make sure you come to this great opportunity I can present for missile Oracle Siamese the locker is our high school assistant principal and there's a few things that she wanted to to inform parents of number one she just wanted to make sure and we all want to make sure that you know that we we did have our our fall semester assemblies this this week today we had our high school on our last 14 for our school after the fall semester and so we just wanted to congratulate all the students who are earned awards for having good braids for having a good citizenship for being excellent Phoenix leaders we will have a Elementary Middle School and High School spring assembly at the end of the school year so looking forward to that and hopefully seeing some of your your students at our assembly as Miss Nettle said earlier we also have weekly class celebrations that every month and we honor students for their character and for their good qualities that they that they show during the month and the other item is that our teams are administrative teams they are conducting monthly home visit to re-engage students who have been absent and as you know in the Virtual Academy if their absence means two things one that they're not coming to zoom they're not doing any work so we look at these students we talk with the teacher we have meetings to try to figure out how to help our students and who are the students that will be visited every month and so this is what has been happening the past I think since on November if I'm not mistaken in the whole District so this is not the Virtual Academy stuff it's just a full District so I am dropping a quick Link in the chain there's an attempt and brochure with more information about that and then going on to the next slide we wanted to introduce you to this new service that we have leusd telemental Health Resources this is it is available by phone by by zoom and not necessarily in person unless that is also something that you wish but we are in the district wanted to but it's just wanted to make sure that our students especially are receiving mental health support so I'm also dropped the the link in the chat for more information is that if you feel like you your student needs our support and needs access to high-quality tell a mental health meeting over the phone or Zoom Peace by all means click on that link and you'll get more information and I can go out with Mr Lopez also at Mr Lopez is not able to be here she just wanted to inform our parents about the cultural arts passport we are in organizing field trips for our our students will be at be on the lookout for for that for information from your students teachers about these field trips and the places that they will be able to visit once again Mr Lopez when it's also mentioned can program which I mentioned previously in this dellorco slide and another item a couple of items that he three items that he also worked on as and focuses on is our black student achievement plan or VISA plan he works very close with our beasts a poor black student achievement plan teacher and restorative justice coordinator and they also plan and they organized opportunities for our students afro black students and our black families but also include all the other students as well he also your heads are our clubs are leadership groups we have a few leadership clubs as you know you know this is our second year so baby steps we only have a few but the students seem to be enjoying those and they're not being a difference that the staff we have turn Anthony most committed we have committees and we have bad teachers at teams of teachers and staff members who work together to put together assemblies and special activities and as matter of fact we have one coming up soon which is a science fair that is being organised by the group of teachers who are in the science committee I think it's a science fair committee so will look out for for those that information schoology email Blackboard connect so I always make sure you answer our our phone calls you look at our messages text messages because we will be sending you more information is another would you like to take this is our our individualized education program for this is that is led by our system principal Miss Biermann and mr. put Libra who are who's R Us special education service provider in Bridgeport later if you could drop the link in the Miss Renee this is the division special education just a resource for parents to receive more information on services and resources that are available for students with special education needs and whether they have an IP or just the other support so please wait you to look at that information thank you and I think I have to reconnect Miss armor so everybody can give you the stuff your moments I Legacy furniture is armoire figure out where to go to connect you I'm taking on the English button manage language I think I got it I got it Miss armor could you drop you off send me the your email address in the chat please you can private message me you know what I found you I found you. Thank everybody for your patience okay. that works Miss armor no no not join so I'm adding interpreter I added your name I selected your name and then I selected English to Spanish and that there's a start button but it's grayed out so I can't press it I'm not sure oh maybe okay nevermind okay thumbs up I had to delete the other two that were there haha now I know I think we're able to continue thank you everybody for your patience okay and you just make sure that I so once again hello good afternoon I am a I'm better Title One coordinator and I just wanted to share with you that this brain is a time when old schools across the district start having eating and start asking parents and families for their input about what they would like to see happening at our school what kinds of services are children are students need what kind of support we can provide so will be getting this this needs assessment which is basically a survey of items that that are available for our students for our families and we are going to be sending these home to students to not nasty. Sorry to parents juice teachers are staffed to make decisions about how important certain services on certain things that are currently has or possibly have important so I'm just wanted to give you a heads-up that this this link this form this needs assessment for 20 24 25 20 25 will be coming soon the School site Council as well as the instructional team and the administrators we all work together to work on our budget for next year which is based on our fdsa it's our students I'm sorry I don't know taking care of just wanted to get out but I'm sorry rsps Bay is our plan is our guide that allows us to be able to make objectives have a protective have goals and then high are the money I'll try to loan money which is what were basically working on trying to figure out what we're going to be spending on that is all based on our student needs and it is all tied to data so we that's why it's important to look at our attendance data and see what are some ways we can improve them we see our I ready reading and math scores are kids are are low in certain areas so how are we going to support them to improve the following you are so it is that it is a process and it happens in ring so I just keep an eye out for this I survey would do when I hear you're at we do want to have your input as well as all the stakeholders at our school and I think that thank you and you said that they would you like to take this or I can do it I'll do it all right don't parents as part of our engagement man we have a community representative zennies chica is a community with one of her roles is to engage parents by signing up to the parent portal we're happy to say we have 91% of our families who have created a parent portal account and you might have ask yourself why why do I need to have a parent portal account parents important because you can get a lot of resources down from your computer so that you can also be informed if you can go on to the next like this one of the things that you can go ahead and do through the parent portal is monitor your child's attendance braids or a sight as famous if you need to update your what is the information you can do it through the parent portal and if you need or your child needs special education support or apply for summer school for those students who have on the program is extended school year yes why you have to do it through the parent portal and then you can also give you standardized test results it's really important that you go ahead and create this account so you can stay informed I believe a second is not available and we're happy to I also say that we have Miss Duncan who is Arby sap we're here okay I'm on their Frozen I don't know if I hate go ahead hi everyone good afternoon I'm very excited to be presenting to you all three opportunities for our students you have the annual Koba scholarship application of it's only apply to 12th graders but they can apply for a $2,000 scholarship to help them at College there's a big big banquet and they're presented and it's wonderful it's a big deal and you can see the White Flyer there but if you if you if we kind of pass over that the it highlights over there say indica yes we can there's actually a link that Mrs Romain made that can actually be utilized for the Cobra the Coalition of black administrators scholarships for seniors is due February 6th and if someone could scroll over that and we can put it in the chat working on it I got it yeah whomever the host is when you kind of glaze over these the the Linksys show up happy Karina set it up that way we set it up the other day like that and then yes he's on putting it in the chat and this is a wonderful opportunity for our students because College is very expensive and then I'm pleased to present are a gourd art class but it's all filled I'm happy that we got them all feel because it cost is it cost us $5,100 for this but it is free to the students it's a gourd art class with the kids will be in a Class 8 weeks on Tuesdays from 1:30 to 3 and the only commitment we have is that they do show up online for the class of that they come to the Welcome Center nearest them to pick up their Arts okay so the art supplies were dropped off today by the art teacher to all three welcome centers and so if your child registered for the class then they were approved and you received an email from me and you cannot go ahead and go to that Welcome Center I'm that is listed in your email that you said was the closest one to you and you can pick up the art supplies the next big opportunity opportunity we have we are presenting a dance and African dance and an international cooking class for the students and it's online cooking with Gabby Chef Gabby and this is a wonderful experience of the whole entire month of February every Friday at 2:15 to 4 the kids will learn dance the only African dance but different dances but you know the modern up-to-date dances and dances from around the world and after that they will go right into cooking it now the food the materials needed for the cooking class will be provided by us of the children the parents I need to go to the Welcome Center to pick up the food by chapter register we only have 50 slats available now I think 10 of them filled so we have 40 slots available if you would like to register your child for that is from 5th grade on us this program is for 5th on fifth grade on for the cooking class cooking and dancing classes and if someone can put that in the chat also for the parents to sign up that would be fantastic if the Chapman okay great thank you cuz everybody is Frozen in my computer's acting very wacky over here at Washington sorry when it rains that is really weird but I'm very excited about it I hope every signs up for it it's going to be a wonderful experience for the kids all of the materials the ingredients to the meet the oils the seasoning the herb everything is included you just have to commit to picking up those of food. Sarkis every Thursday because the class is on Friday at 2:15 so you need to pick it up on Thursday between the hours of 8 in the morning and for those are hours on Thursday between 8 a.m. I am I'm sorry 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Thursday cuz the class is Friday and that's it for me right now thank you good afternoon everyone again My Name Is Earl hernandez-lopez and I am the English Turner emergent bilingual an instructional coach and I'm here to support our students who are English Learners and something important coming up is our summative assessment which is an assessment that informs us of our students English progress at some very important assessment we want to make sure that students pass this assessment on there on the four domains that are given the Reading Writing listening and speaking and the reason why we want them to pass us 5 minutes because it's one of the requirements for students to reclassify ER show reclassification and we are going to be providing these if Miss will make you put that in the I'm going to chat parents you have these resources available you can see some samples of the assessment if you want to support your child ahead of time the alpaca is going to be coming soon and there's also a letter that was mailed how to parents informing them more about this assessment is very important assessment again if students reclassify they when they get to middle school and high school they won't have to take an ELD course and an English class they own have to take an English class and therefore they can select an elective so we want all of our students to reclassify show that they are bilingual students and not students that are learning English and because this is a very state test we want to make sure that students have a working device so parents please make sure that you check the devices not only for this assessment for four other assessments they want to make sure that students have working devices and we did share that earlier there's a quick way to sign up and Mr making also share the link again for you to make an appointment and then pick up a device that it's working and the are students at as we visit them unless we work with we noticed that they need the devices for class we're noticing that some students like their volume doesn't work there video doesn't work the Wi-Fi is this party so yes we do need them for we want our students to have devices for testing by everyday soak always ask your students if their device is working is the screen is the street working is the video is the sound sometimes things happened over a weekend and they may need to have a device replaced so please always talk with your students about their their device thank you miss him and thank you Miss for May 4th at reminder yes and also sometimes it could be that it's it's not always a device sometimes it's just the students have to allow the the the video to show so there's different things but we just want to stress the importance of having a working device for for classroom assessment so please support us with that parents it is also you know something that was in the master agreement that students have the tools that they need to be successful in the Virtual Academy instructional setting so thank you for that support and because again this is an important assessment we want to make sure that students are in attendance to resume for the weeks that we're going to be administering BASF The District administration window is February 1st through March 22nd so that is when all schools in La unified are administering this very important assessment for our Academy leadership and public service where we're going to be administering it. the February 13th through February 23rd so please make sure that your child is present on those States or will have a testing schedule for the different domains I'm check with your child's teacher so you know when these important assets are going to be happening and last but not least we're going to have a nail tech boot camp starting on Monday through February 9th Monday Wednesday Thursday Friday at 3 and this is going to be an opportunity for students to just get the mail price for the assessment practice on the platform and we're hoping to give them some some resources and some of test-taking tips just something to make them feel comfortable when they take this assessment sometimes the students only need to pass one domain maybe they passed three of the domain so we're going to share some some tips and hopefully just encourage our students to do well and again this very important assessment thank you thank you parents for attending our coffee with the principal I know that you know we take away from your day but it's important that you stay connected and that you are informed our next meeting will be February 29th at 1 p.m. thank you have a nice afternoon Print
